Few words about Athens

The historical capital of Europe is located in Attica, Greece. It's the main town in the Greek nation. This one of the oldest cities in the world has a huge history, run into thousands of years. At first, Athens was a small nation, Mycaelen community. Then it becomes a real city, the proud of Greece.


Meaning of the name - Athens

According to the myths, one day Poseidon and Athena were taking part in a name competition. Each of them could give a gift. Zeus' brother hit the rock using his attribute, trident and made a water source. The idea of Poseidon was not as successful as his opponent. In next turn, Athen planted a seed in the ground. She caused a spring of food of peace and wisdom. In unison, the goddess won and the city was named Athens.

Parthenon

It's a house of worship located in Acropolis. This temple dominates all hills there. It was dedicated to the patroness the city, Athen. The hole Acropolis is worth-seeing, because of his reach history. In reality, the Acropolis looks even better!

    I visited Athens, and the Acropolis, many years ago and I admit it is really impressive. I heard that it is much more difficult now to walk on the Acropolis hill and visit the Parthenon because the access has been restricted due to huge numbers of tourists. Is it true?

Today I watched an incredibly interesting and inspiring talk of Tim Urban, who talks about pushing off every task that needs to be accomplished by some deadline. He introduces two types of the brain depending on a person - procrastinator or non-procrastinator. In a funny way, he shows how easily we try to postpone every job we are supposed to do by doing every other activity instead of this one. Finally, he presents a "Life Calendar" wanting us to think about what we are procrastinating on, especially when everybody has a deadline. To be honest that was probably the best TEDTalk I have ever seen so I encourage you to give up 15 minutes and watch it! It's worth it! To perplex The teacher gave two tricky answers to  perplex  the students. A dread She overcame her  dread of heights and went bungee jumping. Today I watched a video which shows what happens in our body when we swallow the gum. As much as food by chewing is breaking into smaller pieces, gum's form is not changing at all. Still, the muscles of our digestive track remove it in a day or two with other food that cannot be fully digested. However, too many gums can cause damage to health.
